When Pierre was 14, he sat in a kart for the first time, and in that moment the racing fever got him. Not even four years later, he already circled the race tracks in Germany and Europe as a racing driver in Formula Ford.
His start at the professional racing career was perfect when he won the championship title in this racing serial even in his second season and finished it on the second place in European Championship.
Since then, Pierre Kaffer’s career has been taking the line of the most talented racing drivers in the German Formula-3-championship (12 wins). Racing has become the major part of Pierre’s life, and even when he suffers a setback: He always wants to push his career as a racing driver.
With the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, Pierre Kaffer has found a new challenge as a racing driver in 2002. Followed by some test sessions in the American Racing Champ-Car-Series, Pierre Kaffer finally became a factory driver at Audi in 2004. In 2007 Pierre got back to the Porsche Carrera Cup.
In 2009 Pierre Kaffer got the possibility to be a professional racing driver for the Ferrari-Racing-Team in the American Le Mans Series. Starting for team Risi Competizione at “12-Hours-Racing of Sebring“, “24 Hours of Le Mans“ and the American “Petit Le Mans“ in 2009, Kaffer’s team won all races superiorly in GT2.
In 2011 Pierre Kaffer again accomplished exciting challenges as a race driver. He managed to return into the prototype. Within the Le Mans Series he started with a Lola Judd of the Pecom Racing Team in the LMP2 category and within the International GT Open he drove the new Ferrari 458 GT2 at the Petit Le Mans Race, Road Atlanta together with his driver mates Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni he achieved the victory in the GT2 category.
New challenges as a racing driver are waiting for Pierre Kaffer in 2011. Among other things, he will line up with a new proto type, Lola Judd. For Ferrari, he will drive the new 458 GT2 racing bolide in the International GT Open.
In 2012 Pierre Kaffer`s racing calendar includes a large number of races. At the new race series – World Endurance Series (WEC) – he will participate in the LMP2 category with an Oreca 03 with a Nissan engine for the Pecom Racing Team and furthermore he will also participate in the Endurance Le Mans Series (ELMS) in the LMP2 category with an Oreca 03.
The classics in racing sports in Le Mans in France and at Nürburgring in Germany: The 24 Hours Races. For every single racing driver and racing enthusiast all over the world, they are compulsory dates in their racing calendars.
Several times, Pierre Kaffer Pierre proved his racing skills in his run-outs at 24 Hours of Le Mans and at Nürnburgring as well as at racing series LMS (Le Mans Endurance-Series) and ALMS (American Le Mans-Series).
When he won the runners-up spot at 24 Hours of Nürnburgring with a Porsche RSR996 in 2008, Kaffer switched to the official Audi Team of 24 Hours of Nürburgring fort he racing season 2009 and 2010. The start 2009 was definitely a highlight of his current racing career: In the end, Kaffer and his racing colleagues (Abt, Luhr, Hemroulle) ended up in second of the overall rankings.
In 2009, an extremely successful year, Kaffer set a milestone as a racing driver. Driving the Ferrari F430 GT2 he came first in the traditional 24 Hours of Le Mans in the racing category GT2.
Although he is a professional racing driver, Pierre Kaffer has a straightforward and close contact to his fans and sponsors. Being open, talkative and likable are qualities that mark the racing pro, as well as the strong will to be a successful racing driver. To be a successfull racing driver and to still keep his feet on the ground – that is the best way to describe Pierre Kaffer and his previous racing career.
